“Ancient Magic Signs” is a term used in modern scholarship to address a large group of signs that occur in ancient contexts of communication and interaction with higher powers. These signs display a wide variety of shapes and there are currently over 1.000 different types documented on hundreds of ancient artefacts and in ritual manuals.
Ancient magic signs were applied in medical, protective, divination and general non-damaging rituals as well as in curses and other harmful contexts.
The majority of the signs remains cryptic to us today, but recent research has shed more light upon the concepts and ideas underlying their use.
